Elearning

What is elearning?

ELearning is training, learning, or education delivered online through a computer or any other digital device. Elearning courses use online tools to enhance teaching and learning. There are three types of elearning courses:
  • Online courses are held entirely online with no face-to-face classroom time. Online courses require the same amount of work as face-to-face courses. They include scheduled assignments and exams. Some online courses require students to meet online in web conferences at scheduled times.
  • Hybrid or blended courses use online technologies to replace some face-to-face class time. The blend can be flexible. For example some hybrid classes may only meet in person a few times per year. Usually, students must attend all scheduled classroom sessions.
  • Web-enhanced courses have mostly face-to-face class time and usually only use online technologies for additional interaction or for sharing course materials. No face-to-face class time is displaced. Students must attend all scheduled classroom sessions.

What is Moodle?

Moodle is an online tool for teaching and learning. Trainers can use Moodle to share course content, post assignments and grades, conduct quizzes, and collect online submissions.

Do I have to use a computer or can I use my phone or tablet?

You can use a cell phone or tablet provided it meets the technical requirements for Moodle.

How long will course materials and resources be available to be accessed?

Training materials and resources should be accessed directly from the elearning platform. Training materials and resources, including access to the lecturer, are available for the duration of the training of the module or course only for students in good financial standing.
All training materials and resources (e.g. recordings and handouts) on the elearning platforms remain the property of the original publishers and cannot be reproduced, edited or distributed without written permission from Automation Technology College and the original content creators.
All recordings of classes, training sessions, practice sessions and assessments on Automation Technology College's elearning platform and social media remain the sole property of the college.
Students do not have permission to record/screenshot/distribute/share ATC's training sessions, recordings, training materials and resources.

Recordings

Are recordings available for all classes?

ATC tries to record all sessions. Sometimes due to circumstances beyond the college's control some sessions may not record (eg technical issues with the server). ATC therefore cannot guarantee that all sessions will be available.

How do I access class recordings?

Log into your moodle account with your username and password. Go to your course page. Click on the relevant bigbluebutton classroom icon. You will see the recordings under the orange 'Join session' button.
